Electrical Safety and Isolation

The Explore system is a battery-powered device designed for safe use in research environments. However, improper connection to external equipment may introduce electrical hazards.

To ensure safe operation: Always use the provided Mentalab USB Isolator (UI) when connecting the device to a computer or power supply, while the device is worn.

The UI dongle may become warm during normal operation. This does not necessarily indicate a malfunction.

SAFETY NOTICE - OPERATING TEMPERATURE OF THE UI DONGLE

Use the UI dongle only at room temperature. Keep the device exposed to air and do not cover, wrap, or wear it under clothing or insulating materials.

For head-worn recording setups, use the supplied distance cable and 3D mesh as specified to reduce direct skin contact and to keep the UI dongle separated from the skin.

Special care is required around children and persons with reduced sensitivity to heat. Stop use if the device feels uncomfortably warm or if skin irritation occurs.

Only use original Mentalab electrodes and accessories. The system relies on built-in protection mechanisms, which may be compromised when using third-party components. Failure to follow these instructions may lead to unsafe operating conditions.

Use only certified 5 V DC power adapters compliant with IEC 62368-1 or IEC 60601-1.
