Explore Mobile App Guide

Download & Installation

Usage Overview

The app provides real-time monitoring and device control with a user-friendly interface.

  • Device Discovery: Scan and select your amplifier from the list using its Bluetooth ID (e.g., Explore_XXXX).

  • Cog Menu: Offers quick settings for visualization filters, app version, and device disconnect. (Based on mobile usage info)

Core Functional Tabs

Impedance Tab

Display: Real-time impedance per channel. Features: Assign channel positions (e.g., electrode labels).

ExG Visualization Tab

Real-Time Data: Monitor raw ExG signal waveforms. Context Menu: Customize settings like Y-axis scale. CSV Recording: Tap the menu to record data in CSV format.

Bottom Bar

Shows critical device information:

  • Device name

  • Battery level

  • Temperature (wiki.mentalab.com)

Tested Devices & Compatibility

The Explore Mobile App has been validated on a range of devices, including:

  • Android: Lenovo Tab M9 (Android 13), Samsung S23 Ultra, Zenfone 10 (Android 14), Pixel 7 Pro (Android 15)

  • iOS: iPhone 13 with iOS 18 (wiki.mentalab.com)

Usage Notes & Limitations

Sampling Rates (Android only):

  • 8-channel: up to 1000 Hz

  • 16-channel: up to 500 Hz

  • 32-channel: up to 250 Hz (github.com) Known Issues:

  • Channel mapping may persist even after disconnect/reconnect.

  • ExG visualization time window may not match new sampling rates. (From test results on GitHub) (github.com)

Limitations:

  • iOS sampling limits not specified. *Feature set may vary across platform versions.

Best Practices

  • Prefer scanning device from within the app rather than system BLE menus.

  • Validate electrode impedance before data collection to ensure signal quality.

  • Use CSV recordings if you plan to process signals with external analysis tools.

  • Keep firmware and mobile app versions synced with Explore Desktop to avoid compatibility issues.
