iMotions

This page shows how to use Mentalab Explore with the iMotions Biometric Research Platform. iMotions Lab is a software platform that collects, synchronizes, and analyzes data from multiple sensors (including EEG) in one place, so you can run multimodal human behavior research in a single environment.

Mentalab Explore integrates with iMotions Lab as an ExG source over Lab Streaming Layer (LSL).

Prerequisites

1. An Explore device
2. iMotions Lab installed
3. A way to publish your Explore data to LSL. You can use any of these:
   • Explore Desktop
   • Explore Mobile App
   • explorepy

How to stream Explore data into iMotions Lab

1. Push your Explore device’s ExG stream to LSL. You can do this in three different ways, pick whichever fits your setup:

   • In Explore Desktop, open the LSL menu and click Push data to LSL. See the Explore Desktop guide for details.
   • In the Explore Mobile App, open the ExG tab, tap the dot menu and choose Stream via LSL. See the Explore Mobile guide for details.
   • With explorepy, run explorepy push2lsl from the command line.

   The stream shows up on the network as Explore_XXXX_ExG, where XXXX is your device ID. For more on LSL in our system, see our LSL guide.

2. In iMotions Lab, add an LSL sensor to your study and discover the available streams on the network.

3. Select the Explore ExG stream and start your recording.
